HOW TO VOTE
​​​​​The polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on November 5. You can find your polling location on the Iowa Secretary of State's website or by contacting the Palo Alto County Auditor's Office.

If you are not registered to vote, you can submit a voter registration form to the county auditor’s office before October 21. You may also register on election day at your polling location.

Registered voters can request a mailed absentee ballot through the Palo Alto County Auditor's Office. To receive a mailed ballot, complete a request form and return it to the auditor's office. The county auditor's office will begin mailing ballots on October 16.​​​​​ The deadline to request a mailed ballot is October 21.

Ballots must be received by the county auditor’s office before the polls close at 8:00 p.m. on November 5 to be considered for counting.

In-person absentee voting begins October 16 at the Palo Alto County Auditor’s Office and will be available until November 4. This office is open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and located on the main floor of the Palo Alto County Courthouse, 1010 Broadway St., in Emmetsburg.​​
​
Early voting will also be available Saturday, November 2 at the auditor’s office from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
